Kos

Kos lies in the center of the Dodecanese complex and is one of the most famous Greek islands. If you are in the mood for more than sandy beaches and sunbathing, there is much interesting sightseeing on the island, including the impressive Sanctuary of Asclepius (Asklepieion), the Ancient Agora, the Venetian Castle in Kos Town and the Fortress in Antimachia.

In Agios Fokas, there is a sea pool with hot springs, known as the thermes. The place is well known as one of the most exceptional places in Kos.

The island of Hippocrates, «Father of Modern Medicine», is a place full of surprises and hidden gems. The ideal way to discover them is to rent a comfortable car/ minivan and enjoy transfers and tours in fully air-conditioned, clean and sanitized vehicles, avoiding public transport.

While in Town, you will admire the great neoclassical, Italian, Ottoman architecture, depicted on buildings, squares, mosques and Ottoman springs. You will be amazed by the imposing Nerantzia Castle on the harbour and Governor’s office, the picturesque old town, the Ancient Agora close to the harbour, the Roman Odeon, Hippocrates’ Plane Tree, under which he would teach his students the secrets of healing and the Archaeological Museum.

At short distance drive from Kos Town you will find Hippocrates’ Asclepion, the first healing centre, sanctuary and medical school, built during the 3rd century BC. Another notable stop during your driving trip is the traditional village of Antimachia, with its Medieval Castle, built by the Knights of Saint John in the 14th century.

Αs for swimming, around 120 km coastline and more than 20 amazing beaches with crystal clear waters await you to explore them. Among the most popular, organized and family – friendly are Zouroudi, Tigaki, Marmari, Mastichari [all north], Lambi Mylos, Limnionas, Camel, Agios Stefanos, Paradise, Kardamena & Kamari/ Kefalos [south-southwest]. One of the most unique places are the Thermal Springs in Agios Fokas, a pebbly beach where the cool sea water mixes with waters ranging between 42oC and 50oC from the hot springs, allowing visitors to enjoy a warm, utterly refreshing bath while relaxing in a rock pool.
